Al started working in the family business at Duck Commander but left to become a preacher. He served in ministry for many years, though he eventually returned to work in public relations at Duck Commander.
He and Lisa also appeared on their family’s popular reality series, Duck Dynasty. Al started becoming involved during the show’s fourth season. He hoped to share God’s word with more people by being on the show.
Al became known as the “beardless brother,” since he was the only Robertson son who didn’t have a long beard.
Duck Dynasty ended in 2017, but the Robertson family maintains an active presence through social media and podcasts. Al co-hosts the Unashamed podcast with his father, Phil, and younger brother, Jase.
Lisa Robertson Was Diagnosed With Breast Cancer
During the April 3 episode of Unashamed, Al shared that his wife, Lisa, has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Al said, “[We] found out this week, just within the last week, that Lisa has breast cancer.“
Lisa noticed a “knot,” so she went in to get it checked out. “Then all of a sudden you realize you’re into a new battle,” Al said.
Al said Lisa has been “so strong” since receiving her diagnosis. He also shared that Lisa will have a “big surgery” in a few months.
Lisa appeared on the April 15 episode of Unashamed to share her reaction to her diagnosis. She said she couldn’t believe the news at first. But as she processed the news, she said:
“I feel like this is just another part of my story that God is gonna help me to bless other people with.”
Lisa’s diagnosis comes shortly after Phil shared on a previous episode of Unashamed that his wife, Miss Kay, was in the hospital because she was “sick.”
Watch Al speak about Lisa’s diagnosis in the video below. Our prayers go out to them and their family.
