Country music star Scotty McCreery will be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on April 20.
The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly American country music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee, which has showcased the biggest names in country music for nearly a century.
Becoming a member of the Opry holds profound significance for any country music artist. Scotty McCreery is poised to be the next to achieve this prestigious honor.
Joining the Grand Ole Opry has been a “lifelong goal” for the 30-year-old singer.
The moment Scotty was invited to become a member was exceptionally meaningful, as he was surrounded by his family, friends, and fellow band members.
Garth Brooks surprised Scotty on stage during his show at the Opry on December 3rd with a Christmas present. Turns out, the present didn’t actually have anything in it.
Brooks hinted, “Tonight is merely an invitation,” subtly revealing to Scotty what was about to happen.
“On behalf of the Grand Ole Opry…we would love for Scotty McCreery to be the newest member of the group.”
After accepting the invitation, Scotty told the audience:
“When I got started doing this young, people said, ‘What’s your goals?’ I said, ‘I want to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry.’ I have stepped in this circle so many times over the years. It’s always been my biggest goal in country music and wondering, ‘Maybe this is the night.’ It didn’t even cross my mind. I wasn’t even thinking about it. I was just coming to sing some Christmas songs.”

On February 15, the Grand Ole Opry made a thrilling announcement. Josh Turner would have the honor of inducting Scotty into the Grand Ole Opry during the ceremony on April 20th.

On Tuesday, April 9, Scotty shared a photo on his social media, expressing his excitement about joining the Opry family and beginning the countdown to the big day.
“Still doesn’t seem real that I will become a Grand Ole Opry member in just 11 short days. I can’t wait to join the Opry family. See you on April 20th!”
