Lauren Alaina shared a touching Father’s Day message as she remembered the love, support, and influence her dad had on her life.

The “Road Less Traveled” singer lost her father, JJ Suddeth, nearly two years ago. His passing was sudden, and it had turned Lauren’s world upside down.

At the time, she shared a short message with fans, telling them what was going on, and said she would be stepping away from touring for a while to mourn her dad.

“We lost my daddy last night, and I really don’t have words yet,” she had wrote.

Since then, Lauren’s made it a point to keep her dad’s memory alive whenever she can.

For example, she began to learn to play the guitar because it was something he had always loved. She also took time to celebrate what would have been his 13th year of sobriety.

Lauren even released a song titled “Little Things,” which she wrote for him after his passing. A few of those lyrics include:

“Bet you’re in Heaven, swearin’ Hell froze over / Sittin’ on a cloud, lookin’ down, just watchin’ me / Brush a little more off my shoulder / Smilin’ through tears, sittin’ here with a song to sing / When your whole world stops It makes you stop to think / Since you went and got your big ol’ angel wings I give a little less damn ’bout the little things”

So when Father’s Day rolled around, Lauren made sure to honor her dad once again. She shared a video montage filled with clips of the two of them together over the years, and it gave fans a look at just how close they were and how much he meant to her.

Lauren had her song “Little Things” playing over the montage. Some of the clips included sweet memories like swimming with him when she was just a toddler, singing worship songs together on stage, and an emotional father-daughter moment right before her wedding.

The video ended with a message her dad had sent her years ago. In the clip, he gushed about how proud he was of his daughter.

“Hey baby girl. There’s not a daddy on the face of this planet that could be any more proud of you. You’re an absolutely amazing young woman. I knew when you were a baby… your mama, we both knew… the whole world was going to know your name.”

Lauren captioned the post, telling fans that she misses her dad “extra this year.”

“Sending love to those who have lost their dads,” she added. “Thankful we had such great dads to miss like this but holding space and recognizing the sadness that comes with it 💔”
