Kelly Clarkson, who often performs country songs during her popular Kellyoke segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show, recently sang her version of Keith Urban’s famous track “Somebody Like You. Originally released by Urban in the early 2000s, “Somebody Like You” remains one of his most loved songs.

Clarkson’s rendition of “Somebody Like You” is just one of many country hits she has covered on her show, including songs by Lainey Wilson, Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton, and others. Fans have praised her performances, admiring her ability to bring new energy to timeless tunes.

Kelly Clarkson’s cover not only impressed the audience but also caught the attention of Keith Urban himself. Urban took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts, posting the video of her performance and expressing his admiration.

“Kelly!!!! Loooooove you singing this. Hell, I love you singing anything….do you take requests?!” he wrote.

“Somebody Like You” debuted in 2002 as the lead single from Keith Urban’s third studio album, Golden Road. This track marked Urban’s second chart-topping hit on the US Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, maintaining the number-one position for six consecutive weeks. Additionally, it peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Recognizing its popularity, Billboard honored “Somebody Like You” as the top country song of the 2000s decade in December 2009.

Notably, the song was also remixed for the 2003 film How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Urban recently shared his thoughts on the song’s success in the popular film, admitting that the opportunity wasn’t as favorable as it initially appeared.

“That’s a great example of learning early on the price of — I wouldn’t say selling out — but pretty darn close to it,” Keith said during a SiriusXM’s “Highway Mornings” interview.

“Rule No. 1: Stay true to who you are,” he asserted.
