Kelly Clarkson openly admitted that dating hasn’t crossed her mind since her divorce from Brandon Blackstock.

During her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday, March 5, TODAY show anchor Hoda Kotb disclosed to Kelly that she recently went on her first date in two years.

When Hoda asked if Kelly ever contemplates dating, the singer, 41, responded candidly, saying, “Not at all. Not even a little bit.”

“I am really loving not having a man in my life,” Kelly admitted. “It’s just too hard, it’s too much.”

Hoda then asked Kelly what “makes it too much.”

“There’s all the jobs. Plus the kids. Plus being present for the kids while you’re there. ‘Cause sometimes we get, people will still email you. And I’m like, ‘No, no, no, we’re home now,’” she explained.

Hoda had some positive remarks about Kelly’s situation, commending the singer for her grace in handling everything.

“Can I just say one thing that you’ve done that I think is amazing…You left your life that you had and you did something that I’m calling re-potting. You pulled yourself up, girl, by your roots. And your roots were dangling in the air. You must have thought like, ‘Am I gonna land? What’s gonna happen?’”

Continuing to compliment Kelly, Hoda stated, “Look what has happened to you. Like everything’s changed…You are flourishing, my girl. And I’m so proud of you.”

Kelly Clarkson Admits She Never Had A Desire To Get Married.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Kelly shared her satisfaction with the single life.

Kelly said she enjoyed being single and felt happy with the freedom it gave her, with no rush to change her dating situation.

“I never wanted to get married the first time. [Brandon] had children, a religious background, and it was important, I think, for him. But I’ve never been that person. Because I’ve been through a couple divorces in my family, I just don’t like to put any weight on it.”
