Bindi Irwin Recently Underwent Emergency Surgery To Remove Her Appendix
Terri Irwin is sharing her love for her daughter, Bindi, after she recently underwent emergency surgery.
Bindi, her brother Robert, and Terri traveled to Las Vegas for the Steve Irwin Gala at The Bellagio Hotel & Casino, which was scheduled for Saturday (May 10). The event honors Bindi and Robert’s late father, Steve Irwin, and raises funds for the conservation efforts he championed during his lifetime.
Robert shared that Bindi had been dealing with a “grumbly” appendix while in Vegas. Despite being in severe pain, she was determined to attend the gala. But her doctor said that wouldn’t be an option, because her appendix had to be removed. She missed the gala to undergo the operation, and Terri left to be by her side.
Robert stayed behind in Vegas to lead the gala. He told PEOPLE, “[Bindi’s] going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them.”
Bindi Irwin Shares Update From Her Hospital Bed
Wanting to keep her followers informed, Bindi shared a video from her hospital bed after her surgery.
Before this, Bindi was diagnosed with endometriosis. The diagnosis came after years of being in intense pain, which Bindi’s doctors initially dismissed.
Bindi underwent surgery for endometriosis two years ago, resulting in the removal of 37 lesions and a cyst. With her endometriosis in mind, Bindi’s Vegas doctor advised her to travel to New York City so doctors there could check for new endometriosis lesions during her appendectomy.
Thankfully, Bindi’s most recent operation was a success. She told fans that in addition to removing her appendix, her surgeon removed 14 endometriosis lesions and repaired a hernia she acquired when she gave birth to her daughter, Grace, in 2021.
Bindi ended her video message by thanking her followers for their love and support. “One day at a time. Time to heal now. Sending my love to you all,” she said.
