Two days after she missed the Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas due to a medical emergency, Bindi Irwin has spoken out.
Bindi Irwin was scheduled to appear at the Steve Irwin Gala at The Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday. She was in Vegas and preparing to attend the event with her mom, Terri, and brother, Robert, when a medical issue sent her to the hospital.

Robert first shared that his sister wouldn’t be attending the event in honor of their late father, “The Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, due to a “grumbly” appendix.
“She’s going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,” Robert told PEOPLE. “She’s just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes.”
The mom of one underwent surgery for endometriosis a few years ago, and has become an advocate for women’s health.
“They diagnosed me with a million other things, like IBS, or hormones or ‘It’s just part of being a woman.’ The symptoms continued to snowball, and it took me such a long time to find help, and it’s a story that so many women and girls know all too well,” Bindi said at the time.
Bindi shared an update on her health on Monday night via a video posted from her hospital bed.
The 26-year-old revealed that she had flown to New York City for surgery upon the advice of her doctor. Having surgery done in New York would allow the doctor to check for and remove any endometriosis that had developed since her prior surgery.
She told fans that surgery was a great success and that she was able to have several issues corrected while there.
“After many months of a grumbly appendix, I finally had to seek help the day of our Steve Irwin Gala. After consulting with Dr. Seckin, we agreed that if I flew to New York, he could also check for endometriosis again,” Irwin captioned a video. “Surgery was a success. My appendix was removed, along with another 14 lesions (after having 37 endometriosis lesions and a cyst removed two years ago). I also had a repair to a large hernia I acquired through childbirth four years ago.”
She thanked fans for their support and well wishes and promised a return to the Steve Irwin Gala in Brisbane in November. “One day at a time. Time to heal now. Sending my love to you all.”
