Kelly Clarkson Coached Nine Seasons of The Voice Before Announcing Her Departure   

Singer, author, and talk show host Kelly Clarkson was a beloved coach on NBC’s The Voice for a total of nine seasons between Season 14 and Season 23, taking a brief break for Season 22. She proved to be a great fit for the job with an impressive four wins during that time. Her winning team members are Brynn Cartelli, Chevel Shepherd, Jake Hoot, and Girl Named Tom who made history on The Voice by being the first musical group to win the show. 

Clarkson, who also got her start in the music industry from a competitive singing show, surprised fans when she unexpectedly announced that she would not be returning to The Voice in May of this year. 

Kelly Clarkson Left The Voice To Take Care of Herself 

In a recent conversation with USA Today, Clarkson revealed that turmoil in her personal life left her feeling stretched thin and ultimately led her to make the decision to leave The Voice. The singer-songwriter had recently made it through a highly visible divorce from music manager Brandon Blackstock. Reflecting on that time, she shared: 

Full disclosure, I put on a smile a lot of those times because I was struggling a lot in my personal life. I’ve learned a lot about what I’m capable of handling, and also what you should not handle… I was like, ‘I’m struggling. I can’t smile anymore. I don’t feel like smiling.’”

Kelly Clarkson Relocated Her Family and Her Talk Show To NYC 

In addition to saying goodbye to The Voice, Kelly Clarkson recently relocated her family and her daytime talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show from Los Angeles to New York City. She recalls that she was very apprehensive about uprooting her life in California but knew that she “needed a fresh start.” 

Now that she is settling into her new home, Clarkson feels that she is in a “great place” adding: 

I feel like a weight has lifted. That move was very needed. I think the thing I’m most excited about … on a selfish level, is just showing up to work smiling and actually meaning it. That’s a beautiful gift that you don’t realize until you’re out of it.
