“Voice” Standout Josh Sanders Powers Through Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse”

Recapping Josh Sanders’ Voice Journey So Far

Team Reba’s Josh Sanders left it all on stage when he delivered a powerhouse performance of “White Horse” as a member of Season 25’s Top 9.

Sanders’ Voice journey began when he sang “Whiskey On You” by Nate Smith during the blind auditions. Reba McEntire immediately fell in love with his voice and called him a “perfect country singer.

He chose McEntire as his coach, and she helped guide him through the battles, knockouts, and playoffs.

During those weeks, fans watched Sanders offer up his versions of songs such as Luke Combs’ “When It Rains It Pours” and Corey Kent’s “Wild as Her.”

Sanders advanced to the live shows, and moved the coaches to tears with his heartwarming cover of Thomas Rhett’s “Angels.”

Voice fans also loved Sanders’ first live show performance. They voted him through into the Top 9, and he got the chance to sing again on Monday (May 13).

With the competition heating up, Sanders aimed to please with a cover of Chris Stapleton’s fiery song, “White Horse.”

Sanders powered through the song, featuring a rousing guitar break in the middle. His energy and “strong” persona impressed the coaches.

You cut through in a way that showed you’re a star to be reckoned with,” said John Legend.

McEntire remarked how the coaches were on the edge of their seats while Sanders sang. “You drew the audience in; we were all leaning forward,” she said.

Even host Carson Daly voiced how much he loved Sander’s performance, telling him, “That was terrific, man…You just set the bar so high for tonight.”
