Disney Night Took Over American Idol On April 20th
On Monday’s (April 20) episode of American Idol, it was the fan-favorite Disney Night! The remaining nine contestants chose their favorite Disney songs to perform, and judge Carrie Underwood even got in on the fun as she dressed as Belle from Beauty and the Beast!
The show opened with the Top 9, which consisted of Daniel Stallworth, Braden Rumfelt, Lucas Leon, Hannah harper, Chris Tungseth, Keyla Richardson, Brooks, Jordan McCollough, and Kyndal Inskeep, performing “You’ve Got A Friend In Me,” from the movie Toy Story, which releases its fifth installment this summer.
When it came time for fan-favorite singer Brooks to perform, he chose “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie. His unique voice was a great fit for the song, while other fans thought he should’ve sang “When She Loved Me” from Toy Story 2.
“You have such a special sound that does not come around everyday,” guest judge Jennifer Hudson told him.
Despite saying that the song may have “run away from” him a few times, Luke Bryan was encouraging and told him to keep going. Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie agreed.
Host Ryan Seacrest Helped Reveal A Big Secret
Following the judges’ comments, Ryan Seacrest explained to the audience how to vote for Brooks and then said:
“Brooks, one of the great things about this show is the people you meet, the relationships you form, the special, magical moments that happen. Did you connect with anybody? ʼCause I hear you’re a real Prince Charming.”
Brooks embarrassingly said, “Oh God…”
“Anything you want to share with us?” Seacrest asked him. Knowing what was coming next, Brooks replied, “I have to say it?”
“Well, somebody’s here to surprise you. She’s very excited. Former finalist Rae, one of the biggest fans of Brooks, has come back,” the host announced.
She ran excitedly onto the stage and gave Brooks a hug. Seacrest asked her if she had anything to say, to which she responded, “The princess is here to claim her prince!”
The crowd cheered while Seacrest explained that this was their “hard launch,” which means they are finally going public about their relationship.

After all the contestants performed, Brooks was deemed safe from elimination. Rae celebrated the news on Instagram by posting a photo of her kissing her boyfriend on the cheek!

Eagle-eyed fans noticed some online flirting between the two for weeks! Last week, when Rae was eliminated, she made a long post on Instagram thanking everyone for their support. Brooks comments, “I love u,” and she replied back, “i love u more.”

On March 2nd, Brooks commented, “You amaze me,” on a post of hers commemorating Hollywood Week on American Idol.
