Another season of The Voice is officially over, and a new winner has been crowned!
Season 27 of The Voice will be one to remember. The return of one of the show’s original coaches, Adam Levine, reigning champ Michael Buble, and fan-favorite John Legend, as well as the addition of first-time coach Kelsea Ballerini, made for a dynamic coaching lineup.
Every season, the contestants somehow seem to get better and bring new sounds and styles that keep the fans excited. This season was no different. And by Tuesday night (May 20), the massive field of competitors had been whittled down to five. By the show’s end, a new champion had been crowned.
Meet the Voice Season 27 Finalists
Each of the four coaches was represented in the finale, with Michael Buble securing two finalists after last week’s massive elimination of seven hopefuls. Here are the finalists:
Renzo – Team Legend
Renzo was no stranger to reality singing competitions when he auditioned for The Voice. The talented Philadelphia native competed on American Idol‘s 16th season and made it as far as the Top 10 before being eliminated. Renzo auditioned for The Voice with a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” and earned a 3-chair turn (everyone except for Kelsea Ballerini turned for the singer).
John Legend used his only block on Adam Levine, leaving Renzo to choose between Legend and Michael Buble. Renzo ultimately chose to join Team Legend, proof that John’s move was worth the risk. Following Renzo’s audition, Legend told the singer that he wanted to win The Voice with him “and watch you go off an win a bunch of Grammys.”
Lucia Flores-Wiseman – Team Adam
A proud Mexican American who earned a four-chair turn during her Blind Audition, Lucia Flores-Wiseman auditioned for The Voice at the advice of a psychic. Lucia shared that she reluctantly submitted an application for the show and went months without any acknowledgment that her application had been received. By the time the show reached out, she was questioning whether or not she should follow through.
Flores-Wiseman then recalled a message a psychic had given her a year before. “They keep on telling me to tell you to do the audition … Whoever they are, they’ve told me a hundred times to tell you to do the audition,” she was told. She followed their advice and took a risk by performing her audition song in Spanish. She earned a rare unanimous nod of approval from all four coaches and has been dominating the competition ever since.
Jadyn Cree – Team Buble
Fans almost immediately recognized Jadyn Cree when she stood on stage for her Blind Audition. Just a year before, her dad, Bryan Oleson, competed on the show and had invited her to sing with him during his Voice audition. Bryan went on to earn third place on his season.
For her own audition, Jadyn performed Paramore’s “Still Into You” and earned chair turns from Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Buble. Adam Levine predicted that Jadyn would “go far in the show because there’s nobody like you.” Adam’s prediction held true as viewers fell in love with Jadyn and propelled her to the season finale.
Jaelen Johnston – Team Kelsea
Had it not been for Jaelen Johnston, Kelsea Ballerini likely wouldn’t have been represented in the finale. Johnston was one of only a few true country singers on this season of The Voice and had been eliminated by Ballerini two weeks before the finale. When each team had dwindled to two competitors each, the coaches were allowed to bring back one eliminated contestant to sing for a spot in the finale. Ballerini chose Jaelen and he was saved by America’s votes. Both other semi-finalists from Kelsea’s team were eliminated.
Johnston earned a 3-chair turn during his Blind Audition with a cover of Luke Combs’ “Where The Wild Things Are.”
Adam David – Team Buble
Only one coach turned his chair for Adam David’s Blind Audition, setting the singer on a fight to prove himself all season long. Michael Buble fought for his team member, advancing him through each of the rounds until voting went live and America had a chance to determine his fate.
During the first night of live voting, Adam did not receive enough support to automatically advance him to the next round. But he had an opportunity to try to convince America once again as he sang for an Instant Save. The Florida native earned enough to earn a spot in the finale and become the second representative of Michael Buble’s team to have a chance at this season’s title.
A new The Voice winner is named.
Throughout Tuesday night’s 2-hour finale, the finalists performed with their coach and several guest artists made an appearance. Former coaches Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys, and Kelly Clarkson each took the stage to perform their latest singles.
Host Carson Daly announced results at the end of the show until only two were left standing. Jadyn Cree, Lucia Flores-Wiseman, and RENZO learned their fate first, coming in fifth, fourth, and third, respectively.
When the time came to announce this season’s winner, Daly revealed that ADAM DAVID was taking home the trophy!
