The People’s Choice Country Awards has officially debuted at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hosted by Little Big Town, the first-ever People’s Choice Country awards show has been one to remember. From honoring legendary country stars with special awards to giving credit to some artists who have just put their boots in the water, this awards show has already made a huge impact on many.

“The lineup is about the best celebration, and what the fans want to see as they celebrate the year in country music,” Cassandra Tryon, the Senior Vice President of Entertainment Live Events, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, notes. “It’s about reflecting on the biggest moments in country music of the year. So, so many artists have had such incredible years, tours, songs and albums, so it’s really about ‘what is the best celebration of that music and how many performances can we pick?”

The People’s Artist of 2023 is a big fan-voted category that is the ultimate award that covers every category. This category will reflect the country stars who are the all-around favorites. This award is given based on a direct reflection of what fans are consuming in country music.

Tryon advised, “We have a proprietary system that ingests data from sources like Spotify and Billboard, and all the usual sources like social media, etc., so when we announce the nominees, we know they’re truly reflective of what the fans are consuming and talking about in country music.”

Who’s nominated for the People’s Artist of 2023 award?

The eight country artists who were nominated for the People’s Artist of 2023 award are Kelsea Ballerina, Kane Brown, Zach Bryan, Luke Combs, Old Dominion, Blake Shelton, Morgan Wallen, and Lainey Wilson.

All of these artists have had a dynamite year. Between their new music, performances, and wins at previous award shows earlier this year, these artists are truly on fire right now. It doesn’t seem fair to pick only one!

Without further ado, the winner of the 2023 People’s Artist of 2023 award is MORGAN WALLEN!
