A full autopsy report detailing the death of Lisa Marie Presley was released Thursday, roughly six months after she died.

In documents obtained by multiple media outlets, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Dr. Juan M. Carrillo, revealed that Lisa Marie Presley’s death was caused by a “sequelae of a small bowel obstruction.” Carrillo concluded that the obstruction was caused by “adhesions (or, scar tissue) that developed after bariatric surgery years ago. This is a known long term complication of this type of surgery.”

Bariatric surgery is a weight loss surgery done when diet and exercise alone don’t work. These procedures can include gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy which limit the amount of food you can eat, or biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch that limits your food intake and reduces the absorption of nutrients, including fat and protein.

The report also states that toxicology results showed the presence of quetapine metabolite (an antidepressant), buprenorphine (a pain killer) and “therapeutic” levels of oxycodone were present in her system, but “not contributory to death.” It was noted in the report that Presley had complained of abdominal pain, fevers, vomiting and nausea for months but did not seek medical attention.

“There is no evidence of injury or foul play. The manner of death is deemed natural,” the report concluded.

Lisa Marie Presley passed away in a Los Angeles area hospital shortly after being found unresponsive following suspected cardiac arrest on January 12. She was 54.
