Kelly Opens Up About Love & Why It’s “Been A Hard Go” For Her

Clarkson recently opened up about the subject of love during a conversation on The New Yorker Radio Hour podcast. While she doesn’t “hate love,” she admitted that love hasn’t been easy.

Love has been a hard go for me. Whether it’s parents or friendships even, sometimes,” she said.

Clarkson went on to explain how she feels she’s only ever been in deep, true love with Blackstock:

“I’ve only been in love, love like that, with my ex,” she said. “But it doesn’t seem to work out so great for me. Then you have to go, ‘What’s wrong with me at some point?'”

Because love has been hard on her, Clarkson often struggles to write love songs. She said:

“Writing love songs is hard for me. It’s never been easy for me. Whenever I write a love song there’s always that elephant in the room of, like, sadness as well.”

Though Clarkson does have a few love songs in her catalog, including a song called “Magic.” It’s one of the tracks on Chemistry, and you can listen to it below.
