The five Friends stars reportedly attended Perry’s private funeral service, which was held six days after his death. On Tuesday (November 14), LeBlanc became the first member of the Friends cast to share a tribute to Perry on social media.

He wrote:

Matthew…It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love. And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.”

Courteney Cox Fondly Remembers Matthew Perry – Says She Misses Him Every Day

Cox shared her own tribute just a few hours later.

Perry and Cox played Monica and Chandler on Friends. The two characters fell in love after having what was supposed to be a one-time rendezvous in London. But a romance blossomed between them.

The two characters dated, moved in together, and eventually married. By the end of the series, they had infant twins, who they welcomed with a surrogate.

By nature of their characters’ relationship, Perry and Cox spent a lot of time together on set. In her tribute to Perry, Cox shared a clip from the famous scene when Monica and Chandler were seen in bed together for the first time.

The clip Cox posted offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what didn’t make it into the final show. As Cox explained, Perry had whispered something funny for her to say, which got a good laugh out of the studio audience.

In her caption, Cox wrote:

I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day. When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites. To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story. In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind.”
