Matthew Perry Laid To Rest In Funeral Attended By “Friends” Cast

Six days after beloved actor Matthew Perry died at his home near Los Angeles, he was laid to rest in a private ceremony held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. near Warner Bros. Studios where Friends was filmed.

Among those in attending the private 2-hour-long service were Perry’s Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, multiple outlets reported. Footage shows the cast arriving at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park chapel ahead of the funeral, and hugging each other outside of the chapel afterward.

Matthew Perry died October 28 at the age of 54. Authorities responded to a call to his address where they found Perry unresponsive in a jacuzzi after he apparently drowned. His death is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Country Medical Examiner, but no foul play is suspected.

An autopsy has been completed, but toxicology report results are pending before an official cause of death can be determined.

Upon Perry’s death, his Friends cast mates issued a joint statement that read:

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” the cast said. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

Matthew Perry starred as the lovable and sarcastic Chandler Bing on Friends for 10 seasons, from 1994 to 2004. The show, which follows six friends living in New York City, became one of greatest sitcom successes in television history.

Over the course of the show’s ten-year run, the cast gained a cult-like following that inspired merchandise, copycat haircuts, and baby names. The 2004 series final drew roughly 52.5 million American viewers to make it the fifth-most-watched series finale in television history. It was also the most-watched episode of any television series in the 2000s.
