A championship title is on the line, and John Foster made it clear that he’s in it to win it during Monday’s Disney Heroes & Villains Night on American Idol.

John Foster pulled out all the stops for two Disney-themed performances during Monday night’s Top 5 round of competition on American Idol. During the two-hour show, viewers were able to vote for which three artists they wanted to advance to next week’s season finale. Each of the semi-finalists performed two songs from Disney movies, giving them ample opportunity to prove that they deserve to be the next American Idol.

This season’s country favorite, John Foster, brought his smooth sound to covers of “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book and “Rainbow Connection” from The Muppet Movie. The songs are out of the 18-year-old’s wheelhouse, but as he’s proven in recent weeks, he can make any song his own, regardless of genre and style.

During Sunday night’s Top 7 Disney Night episode, Foster sang “Almost There” from the 2009 animated film, The Princess and the Frog. The jazzy tune was a tribute to his Louisiana roots and earned praise from the judges.

“It’s like no matter what you do, John Foster is John Foster. And whatever genre, you brought it to you. You dressed like you. You sound like you,” Carrie Underwood told him.

Luke Bryan credited Foster’s staying power in the competition to his “charisma, charisma, charisma.”

John Foster received similar praise following his Top 5 Disney song performances.

“I am totally in love with the timber of your voice. I call it instant identity … That’s what makes an artist. The difference between a singer and a stylist is that I know your voice in three notes. That’s what you want to have for the rest of your career, and you have one,” Lionel Richie said.

Carrie Underwood agreed and went so far as to predict that he may win the season.

“I’m telling you right now. If you ain’t real careful, you might win this whole thing,” Carrie Underwood said.
