Alan Jackson’s oldest daughter Mattie and her husband, Connor Smith, recently welcomed their first child and today they revealed his special name.
13 months ago, Mattie Jackson said “I do” to Connor Smith in an intimate West Palm Beach, Florida, ceremony. The nuptials came after Jackson lost her first husband, Ben Selecman, in a tragic accident in 2018.
Mattie was open about her grief following Ben’s death, even penning a book about her journey through grief. In a post shared to Instagram announcing her relationship with Connor, she wrote that it was her prayer to have an opportunity to love someone again.
“I have believed, prayed and claimed for 3 and a half years now that God would give me the chance to love someone with my whole heart again,” she wrote. “Other dear widow friends assured me that my heart could heal and expand to love two people equally, though differently. And I hoped so desperately that would really be true.”

That prayer was answered when she met and fell in love with Connor Smith. Eight months after their nuptials, Mattie and Connor announced that they were expecting their first child.
“I feel like I said so many times last year that 2023 topped the charts with more joy and celebration and redemption than any yet. Well, I have a feeling 2024 may give it a run for it’s money… 🙏🏻🥳🙌🏻,” Mattie captioned a photo of herself and Connor holding an ultrasound photo. “We are absolutely thrilled to share BABY BOY SMITH coming this June!!!”
Mattie and Connor welcomed their new addition on June 20th.
They shared the news on social media with a post that read, “There is no greater honor in life than being chosen by God to be your mom. And no sweeter joy than watching your daddy adore you and protect you already.”
They also revealed his special name – Wesley Alan Smith
Baby Smith’s middle name is a sweet nod to his grandpa, Alan Jackson. It marks the second grandchild of the country music legend and his wife, Denise, to pay tribute to a family name. Alan’s middle daughter, Ali Bradshaw, and her husband, Sam, welcomed their first son in December 2022 and named him Jackson “Jack” Alvie Bradshaw.
