The ACM’s Male Artist of the Year award was first presented to Buck Owens in 1966 as the Top Male Vocalist Award. The category’s name changed a few times over the years, before becoming the Male Artist of the Year award in 2019.

Merle Haggard, Brad Paisley, and George Strait have tied for the most wins in the category, with five each.

Last year’s winner was Morgan Wallen. He couldn’t attend the ceremony, so host Garth Brooks (who’s won the award twice), accepted the trophy on his behalf.

That was Wallen’s first time winning the award. Luke Combs took home the trophy in 2020, and Chris Stapleton won in 2016, 2018, and 2022. But Cody Johnson and Jelly Roll have never won it before!

And This Year’s Winner Is…

The 2024 ACM Awards were held on Thursday, May 16 in Frisco, Texas. Reba McEntire served as the host.

The Award for Male Artist of the Year was presented live during the ceremony. Fans watched the winner be revealed during the broadcast on Prime Video.

After all five nominees were recognized, Chris Stapleton was announced as the winner of the 2024 ACM Award for Male Artist of the Year!

I’m happy to be included in such great company,” Stapleton said. He went on to thank his wife, Morgane, his mama, and the people on his team who make everything possible.

“Thank you to my mama for always telling me I could be whatever I wanted to be,” Stapleton said.

Congratulations to Stapleton on his big win!
