Voice contestants go head-to-head in the battle rounds
As Season 25 of NBC’s hit singing competition The Voice moves forward, contestants must now battle against another member of their own team in a single-elimination round. The aspiring singers give their all in hopes of being selected by their coach to move forward.
OK3 battles Zoe Levert with a cover of “The Bones” by Maren Morris
Musical trio OK3 and pop singer Zoe Levert, both members of Team Legend, took the Voice stage with a captivating performance of Maren Morris’ hit song “The Bones.”
“The Bones” was released in 2019 and steadily climbed the charts before becoming the second-biggest U.S. country song in 2020.
OK3’s seamless harmonies paired with Zoe Levert’s effortless vocals made for an impressive performance that left the coaches torn.
The judges weigh in on the battle
Reba McEntire complimented OK3 on their harmonies and called the performance “very entertaining.” She added, however, that Zoe’s performance “blew her away.”
Chance the Rapper tells Zoe, “You had a certain presence on stage in moments that felt like a lead vocal.” Consequently, he predicts her to win the battle.
Dan Smyers, of Dan + Shay, commented that OK3’s harmonies were “out of this world.” Shay Mooney pointed out how Zoe had to face three talented singers in what is “not an easy task.” If forced to pick a winner, Mooney says he would go with OK3, which he nicknamed “Oklahoma Barbie” for their all-pink ensembles.
John Legend commended the singers for how they seamlessly blended together for the performance, calling the connection “natural.” While Legend says he was “so impressed” with both contestants, he must select one winner to move forward.
That winner is… Zoe Levert!
