“X-Men” Actor Adan Canto Has Died At 42

Actor Adan Canto has died at the age of 42.

Adan Canto, the actor best known for his roles in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Designated Survivor, and most-recently Fox’s television series The Cleaning Lady, died Monday following a private battle with appendiceal cancer, Variety reports.

Canto was born in Coahuila, Mexico, and grew up in Texas. He wrote songs for Mexican television shows and films before pursuing an acting career. He landed his first tv role in 2009 in Estado de Gracia, Mexican tv show about a politician’s attempt to combat drug trafficking by legalizing drugs.

Adan made his American television debut in 2013 alongside Kevin Bacon in the Fox crime thriller, The Following. Other television roles followed and included appearances on the ABC series Mixology and Designated Survivor, Netflix’s Narcos, as well as Blood and Oil and Second Chance.

In 2014, Canto made his big screen debut in X-Men: Days of Future Past where he played the superhero, Sunspot.

Most recently, Canto appeared in the Fox series, The Cleaning Lady. In the series he filled the lead role of mobster Arman Morales. The show premiered in 2020 and Canto appeared in the first two seasons. He had hopes of returning to the show for its third season, but his health prevented it.

Canto married painter and sculptor Stephanie Lindquist in 2017. They shared two children, Roman Alder, born in 2020, and Eve Josephine, born in 2022.
