Walker Montgomery And Krista Slaubaugh Are Engaged After Nearly Two Years Of Dating
Walker Montgomery, son of country music star John Michael Montgomery, is officially engaged to Krista Slaubaugh, one-half of the country duo Tigirlily Gold.
The couple’s engagement was announced through an exclusive with PEOPLE. According to the outlet, Walker popped the question on Monday, May 26, while the two were at a beautiful crystalline pond near the Blue Ridge Mountain forest in North Carolina.
Walker and Krista first met back in 2023 after Walker had played a show in Kansas City, Missouri. That night, he made it well known that he had a crush on Krista.
“There was a group of ladies there that asked him during his meet-and-greet if he knew Tigirlily Gold, and he said, ‘Ya. Tell the tall one I’m in love with her.’ (I’m the tall one to clarify),” Krista shared.
Word got back to her quickly, and from there, their love story began.
“This message got to my mom’s friend, my mom, and then to me. I slid into his DMs pretty shortly after and said, ‘How’s Kansas City lately?'”

Now, fast forward to today, and the couple is getting ready to start their next chapter together. Krista told PEOPLE that when Walker asked her to marry him, she felt “overwhelmed in the best way.”
“You wait for that moment your whole life, and I just wanted to remember and soak it in as much as possible,” she added.
Walker also shared a bit about how he planned the surprise. He mentioned that he planned the whole getaway, telling Krista they’d take a road trip from Nashville to North Carolina for a relaxing weekend.

The next day, he took her to what she described as a “cute little cottage-looking house” known locally as “The Farm.” It wasn’t until they arrived at the exact spot Walker had picked out that Krista started to realize what was happening. That’s when Walker got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
“He said, ‘Krista, I want you to be my wife. Will you marry me?’ ” the “Somebody Does” singer said. “I said ‘yes’ and immediately leaned down to kiss him. He then stood up and slid the ring onto my finger.”
And of course, it was extremely emotional for Krista. She shared that she couldn’t help but cry “happy tears” during the special moment.
“We had known for a while now that we wanted to spend our lives together, so the main feeling was joy and excitement,” she said. “I couldn’t have imagined it more perfect.”
