Huntley, the winner of Season 24 of The Voice, is sharing his love for his father following his recent passing.
On Tuesday (May 26th), Huntley took to social media to share the heartbreaking news of his father’s death. He penned a touching tribute to his dad, writing:
“You weren’t always there but I’ve always loved you like the little boy in these photos. I’m glad I got to see you one last time and tell you that I love you no matter what mistakes were made. I love you dad, rest in peace. No more pain.“
Huntley paired his message with a carousel of photos showing him and his dad together through the years. The first picture appears to be the most recent, and shows Huntley with his arm around his dad in the hospital.
Huntley also shared some older snapshots of him and his dad, as well as several photos of his dad in his younger years. The last two pictures show Huntley’s dad later in life, presumably with Huntley’s own children.
The tribute to Huntley’s father received over 1,000 comments from fans and friends offering their condolences.
Bekah Liechty, a member of Girl Named Tom (who won Season 21 of The Voice), commented, “So powerful…lots of love.“
Musician Jordan Mohr said, “I’m so sorry for your loss.”
Nini Iris, who competed on Season 24 of The Voice with Huntley, wrote, “I’m sorry for your loss Huntley.”
Jacquie Roar, who came in fourth place on Huntley’s season of The Voice, noted how he shared the news of his father’s death on his birthday. “Omg and on your birthday?” Jacquie wrote. “I’m so sorry to hear this Huntley. Grieve at your own pace and know I’m always here for you.”
See Huntley’s tribute to his father in the post below. Our hearts and prayers go out to him and his family during this difficult time.
Huntley Won Season 24 Of The Voice In 2023
Huntley, a native of Spring Hill, Florida, previously auditioned for Season 14 of American Idol in 2015. Although he made it to Hollywood Week, his audition was never shown on TV.
Fast forward to 2023, when Huntley auditioned for Season 24 of The Voice. He earned a four-chair turn for his cover of The Black Crowes’ “She Talks to Angels,” and ultimately picked Niall Horan to be his coach.
Niall kept Huntley on his team throughout the battles, knockouts, and playoffs. They eventually went all the way to the finale together and won, giving Niall his second consecutive win as a coach on The Voice.
“I think for me, winning The Voice wasn’t really my goal,” Huntley told NBC Insider after his big win. “Every time I went out there, my goal — every single time — was to create a moment. Because I never genuinely thought that I was going to win The Voice. I just wanted to create a resume to show exactly who I was.”
