During a recent performance at the Grand Ole Opry, country singer Rhett Akins paused his set to introduce a special guest: his 4-year-old son, Brody.

Brody’s Opry Debut

With Rhett Akins’ own success in country music and his oldest son Thomas Rhett also making a mark in the industry, it’s evident that musical talent runs deep in the family. During a recent appearance at the Opry, Akins’ youngest son Brody stole the spotlight with his heartwarming rendition of “Jesus Loves Me,” captivating the audience with his sweet performance of the Christian hymn.

Sonya, Akins’ wife and Brody’s mother, recorded this touching moment and shared it online with the caption, “Brody’s debut at the Grand Ole Opry!!”

Thomas Rhett Dominates Charts

Meanwhile, Rhett Akins’ other son, Thomas Rhett, continues to shine in the country music world, reaching a major milestone with his song “Mawmaw’s House” reaching the top of the Country Airplay charts. This hit, featuring country star Morgan Wallen, was born from a collaboration between Rhett and Wallen in early August 2020. The idea for the song came during a Zoom call between the two artists, sparked by a surprise call from Wallen’s grandmother.

This recent success adds to Thomas Rhett’s already impressive record of 20 chart-topping hits in just ten years.

“For me, each No. 1 is incredibly special, but to have 20 on the Billboard chart is really mind-blowing,” Rhett says. “It means that fans are connecting with the music we make, and that is a feeling that never goes old. It means the world to me.”

To celebrate this achievement, Rhett and his grandmother, affectionately known as “Mawmaw,” shared a joyful moment by jumping into a pool together. Captured in a video shared on Thomas’ social media, the pair are seen holding hands as they leaped in unison to mark the song’s success.
