Could A Country-Themed Super Bowl Halftime Show Coincide With The Big Game?
It was just over three months ago that Super Bowl LX was played, with the Seattle Seahawks defeating the New England Patriots. There was also the divisive halftime show, with Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny performing a largely Spanish-language set.
The conservative organization Turning Point USA notably hosted its own counter-programming event, dubbed The All-American Halftime Show.
Even with all of that news, plans for the next few Super Bowl games are already underway, as the Super Bowl is a multi-billion-dollar undertaking. The 60th Super Bowl game alone — held on Feb. 8, 2026, in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California — had approximately 125.6 million viewers.
Today, May 19, it was announced that Nashville, Tennessee, will host the Super Bowl in 2030.
Tim McGraw, Eric Church, And More Among Those Who Vied For Nashville’s Super Bowl Bid
ESPN reported that this decision was being made today by the NFL owners, who voted for the city during the NFL Spring League Meeting.
Noting that the Nissan Stadium is under construction, and is set to be completed and open to the public in 2027, Commissioner Roger Goodell said, “Super Bowl LXIV at the new stadium is the next step in this remarkable football journey. The vision of Amy Adams Strunk and the Tennessee Titans helped make this moment possible, along with our great partners at the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. We can’t wait to put on an unforgettable show in 2030.”
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said, “Tennessee’s selection to host the 2030 Super Bowl is a proud moment for our state.”
Lee went on to say:
“We invested in a new stadium with a vision for the future – one that brings major events, drives tourism, and fuels economic growth while creating new opportunity for communities across Tennessee. I’m grateful for the partnerships that made this possible, and we look forward to showcasing all that our state has to offer on a global stage.”
Leading up to the announcement, a bid committee was formed to vouch for the city’s ability and qualifications to host the Super Bowl.
The members included country greats like Tim McGraw and Eric Church, as well as comedian Nate Bargatze.
A couple weeks ago, on May 6, Eric Church was on the Tennessee Titans podcast, Hometown Titans, and when he was asked if the Super Bowl was coming to Nashville, Church simply nodded affirmatively.
Expounding upon why Nashville was a good fit, Church said, “If you look at what makes great Super Bowls and great Super Bowl cities, Nashville checks every box.”
Continuing, he said that the NFL had been waiting to evaluate growth and infrastructure, such as hotels, to support the big game. He then said, “Nashville has proven over the last few years with their growth — and with how they handle just a weekend … It’s lit when the Predators are playing out there, right? So they’ve shown that there’s a big appetite for it, and they’ve shown there’s infrastructure for it.”

This had previously been predicted during The Dan Patrick Show in April, as sportscaster Dan Patrick revealed he had heard that Nashville was already being eyed to host the Super Bowl in 2030.
Saying he was informed by a source, who he did not disclose, Patrick revealed, “It is signed and ready to go, in his opinion, that Nashville is getting the 2030 Super Bowl.”
He added, “I haven’t seen any reports on this … this is what I was told.”

Next year, in 2027, the Super Bowl will be held in Los Angeles, California; the 2028 game will be in Atlanta, Georgia; and the 2029 game will be in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With Nashville being “Music City,” as it’s renowned for its country music scene, could the Super Bowl have a country-themed halftime show?
Next year, there’s a chance that the Super Bowl could have a country artist perform at the halftime show, with Morgan Wallen being favored following the 2026 game. Other performer names that are in consideration and are country-adjacent include Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus.
