Reba McEntire may have decades of success under her belt, but after learning one tough life lesson recently, she says she’s never been happier.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Reba opened up about the stage of life she’s in as she continues to give her all to every project she takes on.

At 70 years old, the three-time Grammy winner reveals she has never felt more content with her life than right now.

“I think I’m happier now than I’ve ever been in my life,” she told the outlet. “It’s amazing. It’s wonderful being 70 and getting to do what I get to do at the level I want to do it.”

It’s true that Reba has never shown signs of slowing down. If anything, she’s going stronger than ever.

The “Fancy” singer is currently part of two NBC shows. Fans have been watching her as a coach on Season 28 of The Voice, and she’s also preparing for the second season of her sitcom Happy’s Place, which became an instant hit after its 2024 premiere.

Not only is Reba’s career going full force, but she’s also celebrating a major milestone in her personal life.

It was announced in September that she and her longtime partner, Rex Linn, are engaged.

“I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex Linn,” Reba gushed. “Rex is a very tender-hearted man, and I just love him with all my heart. He’s a good guy.”

The Hardest Lesson Reba Had To Learn At 70 Years Old

Accepting this kind of happiness didn’t come easy for Reba, though. She admits she had to shift her mindset to learn how to be more present, and it completely changed her life.

“The hardest lesson was to quit living for tomorrow and for yesterday,” the country superstar said. “That’s really hard to do, but it’s so rewarding when it clicks.”

“I used to think being content was a no-no, because if you’re content, you’re not going to strive to continue to do better. That’s not true because you always try to improve your health,” she added. “As I tell artists on The Voice, and anybody that ever asks me for advice, I’ll say, ‘Enjoy every minute.'”

And she isn’t ready to let that joy go away, either. Reba shares that she has no plan to step away from the spotlight any time soon.

“I don’t know when. It could be in 20 years,” she said regarding when she will retire. “I think I’ll know when it’s the time.”

She continued, “Dolly [Parton] and I talked about that an awful lot when she did the Reba show, and I said, ‘Are you going to retire?’ She said, ‘Why would I? What in the world could I do and have as much fun as what I’m doing in this job right now?’ I agree with her a hundred percent. Slow down, maybe, but no plans of retiring.”

Right now, Reba is just focused on appreciating all the good she’s experiencing.

“I love this chapter in my life. I’m very grateful,” she concluded.
