Randy Houser recently concluded a two-night run at the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver, Colorado. The picturesque venue has hosted some of history’s most iconic musical acts, including The Beatles, U2, Diana Ross, and Jimi Hendrix.

On the first of his two shows, Randy Houser invited a very special guest to join him on stage. His son Huckleberry, whom he welcomed with his wife Tatiana in 2019, took the stage with the confidence of a seasoned performer.

Huck joined his dad for a cover of Tom Petty‘s 1989 hit, “I Won’t Back Down.” The song topped the rock charts in the late 80s and continues to transcend generations, as evidenced by the 5-year-old’s mastery of the lyrics.

Young Huck crushed his Red Rocks debut, and the crowd cheered him on emphatically.

Randy Houser remembers his father and makes true to a promise he once made

Following the memorable night, Randy Houser shared a video of his father-son duet. Through a touching anecdote about his late father, the Mississippi native revealed that the evening held more significance than could be seen at face value. He shared:

“Red Rocks was the last day trip my daddy and I took together the day before I took him to the hospital in Denver. I was 21 years old and could only dream of getting to play here someday. He knew I would and told me I would.”

Randy’s father, who was a musician himself, passed away in 1997 from cirrhosis of the liver.

The singer reflected on the full-circle moment:

I know he was smiling down as I got to share it with his grandson last night.”
