There Were Rumors Of A Presley Family Feud After Lisa Marie Died In 2023

Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, passed away unexpectedly in 2023. Her death was attributed to a small bowel obstruction caused by complications from bariatric surgery.

Following Lisa Marie’s death, multiple reports claimed that her eldest daughter, actress Riley Keough, was at odds with Priscilla over Lisa Marie’s estate. Although grandmother and granddaughter were involved in some legal entanglements after Lisa Marie’s death, they eventually reached a settlement.

Both Priscilla and Riley have denied rumors of a feud or estrangement. “Things with Grandma will be happy,” Riley told Vanity Fair later in 2023. “They’ve never not been happy.”

The Daisy Jones & The Six star went on to say:

There was a bit of upheaval, but now everything’s going to be how it was. She’s a beautiful woman, and she was a huge part of creating my grandfather’s legacy and Graceland. It’s very important to her. He was the love of her life. Anything that would suggest otherwise in the press makes me sad…”

Riley and Priscilla continued to put the feud rumors to rest when they walked the red carpet together at the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2024.

Riley and I have never had a problem,” Priscilla told PEOPLE in September 2025. She added:

I love her babies. I’m really happy for Riley. She’s got an amazing husband and two great children, so I’m happy for her very much.

Priscilla Presley Explains How Lisa Marie’s Sudden Death “Separated” Their Family

Although there was never a true “feud” between them, Priscilla Presley recently admitted that Lisa Marie’s death led to a slight divide in their family.

E! News reports that while speaking at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino on May 2, Priscilla said:

It’s kind of separated us in a way. You know, we [used to] get together and have meals and have family.”

Priscilla explained how the “separation” isn’t due to any ill will. Rather, her granddaughters (Lisa Marie’s daughters) are simply growing up and living their own lives.

Speaking specifically about Lisa Marie’s 17-year-old twin daughters, Harper and Finley Lockwood, Priscilla said, “They’ve got their boyfriends and do their thing.”

Priscilla’s son, Navarone Garibaldi (whom she shares with Marco Garibaldi), chimed in during the conversation. He thinks the family divide started a little earlier, when Lisa Marie’s son, Benjamin, died in 2020.

I think actually losing Ben was the first thing that separated us,” Navarone commented. “When you would think that should be something that would bring everyone together. That somehow separated us further because everyone grieves in different ways.”

Navarone believes Lisa Marie’s death reunited them after that separation, saying, “I feel like we’re actually closer together [now].
