On Sunday, April 23, Morgan Wallen had a concert at Ole Miss. His openers HARDY and ERNEST had already performed when a message appeared on the screens at the venue. It read:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, unfortunately Morgan has lost his voice and is unable to perform tonight. Therefore tonight’s show has been cancelled. Please make your way safely to the stadium exits. Refunds for tonight’s event will be available at point of purchase.”

Wallen also posted a similar message on his Instagram story, writing, “After last night’s show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better. I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing. All tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. I am so sorry, I promise you guys I tried everything I could.”

Fans were not happy to hear this news after sitting through two openers and having it be just minutes before he was supposed to come on stage. See some reactions below.

One woman has gone as far as file a lawsuit against Wallen. Her complaint says that she is aware that ticket refunds were offered, but that “no offer has been made to reimburse concertgoers for other out-of-pocket expenses they incurred in connection with the cancellation, including transportation, lodging, food, merchandise sales, transaction fees, and other such expenses.”

Burcham is asking for Wallen to be ordered to pay damages to his fans for the money they lost, on top of interest and attorneys’ fees.
