It looks like Luke Combs won’t be the next country star to join the Yellowstone franchise.
Since Taylor Sheridan’s Western drama Yellowstone first premiered in 2018, it has had a major impact on TV and helped bring Western-style shows back into the spotlight.
Even after Yellowstone ended in December 2024, interest in the story continued. So, Sheridan expanded the franchise with several spinoffs.
The world that Sheridan created also gave a lot of country singers the chance to try acting. Over the years, multiple artists have joined Sheridan’s shows, and fans always love getting to see their favorite artists on screen.
A few examples include Lainey Wilson, who made her acting debut on Yellowstone as a musician named Abby. Tim McGraw also starred in the miniseries 1883, alongside his wife, Faith Hill.
And more recently, Riley Green landed his first acting role in Marshals, playing a former Navy SEAL named Garrett.
So, needless to say, getting to be a part of one of Sheridan’s projects is a pretty big opportunity for country singers. It also keeps fans guessing, since their favorite singer could be next to join one of the shows.
But, if you’re a Luke Combs fan hoping to see him make his on-screen debut, don’t get your hopes up, because he’s not interested… at least for now.
Why Luke Combs Won’t Be On A Taylor Sheridan Show
At the TIME100 Gala last week, Combs was asked by Us Weekly if acting was something he’d do, especially if a Yellowstone spinoff role came his way.
The “Hurricane” singer revealed that he isn’t too keen on the idea. But he said he would consider it under one condition: he would have to play himself.
“If they just want me to play me, then great. I’m in,” he told the outlet. “I don’t know if I’m a TV guy. I’ve got a face for radio. I’ve been lucky for that. But I don’t know.”
Another reason Combs isn’t interested in adding “actor” to his résumé is that he simply doesn’t need anything else on his plate. When he’s not on stage performing, his main focus is spending time with his wife and kids.
“I just try to have time for my wife and my kids and not over commit myself to things that maybe I don’t feel like I’m great at. Or maybe I would be good at it. I don’t know,” he says.
Combs continues, “I just got so much going on with the music stuff. I want to give everything I have to that because I have such a big team and so many people that depend on me to make music and play shows and go out and do things for people. From employees to fans, I want to give everything I can to that.”
Luke and his wife, Nicole, welcomed their third child earlier this year, a baby boy named Chet. The couple also shares two other sons, Tex (3), and Beau (2).
