Lisa Marie Presley Toured A Former Exhibit Of Her Belongings At Graceland In 2012

Prior to her passing on January 12, 2023, Lisa Marie Presley was the sole owner of her late father Elvis‘ Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. She also owned its 13-acre grounds and all of the personal effects at Graceland.

As the Graceland website details, these personal effects include “costumes, wardrobe, awards, furniture, cars, etc.” Lisa Marie made the mansion property and Elvis’ personal effects permanently available for the public to view. Some of Lisa Marie’s childhood belongings are among the personal effects at Graceland.

Back in 2012, Graceland opened a special VIP exhibit showcasing Lisa Marie’s childhood belongings. The exhibit was called “Elvis…Through His Daughter’s Eyes.”

Lisa Marie and the Graceland Archives team selected 200 items to showcase in the exhibit. It included home movies, toys, and rare family photos featuring Lisa Marie and Elvis.

To coordinate with the exhibit’s opening, Lisa Marie filmed a video for Elvis’ official YouTube channel. This video has resurfaced in the wake of her passing.

She Shares Her Thoughts About Seeing Her Childhood “Capsulized”

The video shows Lisa Marie walking through the exhibit. She said:

I walked in yesterday and I was a bit overcome by…I don’t even know how to explain it…to sort of capsulize your whole, your childhood, you know in one room. I was a little overwhelmed.

Lisa Marie said it was “amazing” to see all of her childhood things in one room. She likened the exhibit to “a time capsule.”

The thing Lisa Marie was most touched to see was the key to her old golf cart. “That was the key to my life…I hadn’t seen it in probably 30 years,” she said. Her name was printed on the key, but it was hardly noticeable because she wore it out from using it so much.

Lisa Marie said she felt incredibly “blessed” the folks at Graceland cared to preserve her and her father’s belongings. “I have it here, and I’m forever grateful that we have that,” she said.

Lisa Marie’s exhibit at Graceland has since closed. But you can get an idea of what it was like by watching her video below.

It’s so hard to believe that Lisa Marie is no longer with us. She is so dearly missed.
