Lauren Alaina Shares The Sweet Story Behind Her Daughter’s Name
In a new video, Lauren and Cam, who have been married since February 2024, explain the inspiration behind the name Beni Doll. Each parent chose one part—Lauren chose the first, and Cam chose the middle.
The “Road Less Traveled” singer explains that the new baby is named in memory of two people in their family who have passed away. The name Beni is after Lauren’s grandfather, Benny, whom she says, “helped raise me, taught me how to play basketball. He bought me my first karaoke machine… he was very proud of that.”

Beyond that, Lauren discovered that Beni means “crimson” in Japanese. She explains:
“My dad was a huge Alabama fan, and the fact that Beni means crimson feels like my dad said ‘roll tide’ from heaven and told us how to spell it.”
Cam reveals that the middle name “doll” was derived from his aunt’s name, Lucy Doll Arnold. Lucy was born on his family’s 175-year-old farm where Cam’s parents now reside. His aunt, who has now passed, never had kids, so Cam chose the name as a “little nod” to keep her in the family.
