Lainey Wilson Says She Isn’t In A Rush To Get Married
Lainey Wilson says she’s in no rush to walk down the aisle…and it’s partly payback for how long it took her boyfriend to pop the question.
Back in February, Lainey Wilson got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
The couple has been together since 2021, but they kept their relationship private for nearly two years. They made their public debut at the 2023 ACM Awards.

Devlin ended up proposing to Lainey on the front porch of George Jones’ former home in Tennessee.
In a past interview with Kelleigh Bannen, the “4X4XU” singer explained why her now-fiancé chose the iconic estate.
“We’ve been trying to go see it for a while, and one of Duck’s buddies was listing it for sale,” Wilson said.
“He had it all staged. Mandelyn [Monchick], my manager, and her boyfriend were supposed to be meeting us and all this stuff just to go look at it because I was like, ‘I want to go see where George Jones lived.’ And then we showed up, and they weren’t there. And he had in front of the door, it was candles and picture frames and it was beautiful.”

Devlin clearly did a great job planning the perfect moment, which definitely made the wait worth it. Lainey had even said in the past that she might have to be the one to propose, since he was taking so long!
Lainey Says She’s Going To Make Devlin Wait To Get Married
While talking with Country Living, Lainey Wilson shared that she hasn’t really started planning the wedding just yet. She even joked that since Devlin made her wait so long to be engaged, it’s only fair that he has to wait a little while now, too.
“[Duck] is gonna kill me, but I told I’m gonna make him wait,” Lainey said. “He made me wait for 4 years. I’m gonna make him wait before we start planning this thing.”
All jokes aside, though, Lainey says her main goal is to take her time so they can plan the perfect wedding of their dreams.
“We hadn’t really covered any ground on it just yet, but we’re taking our time and it’s gonna be right and it’s gonna be beautiful and, you know, what it’s supposed to be about.”
