Keith Urban Wants Fans To Know There’s One Name He Really Hopes They Never Call Him If They Ever Run Into Him

Keith Urban is a four-time Grammy winner with millions of records sold. So, when meeting a star like him, people might feel a bit unsure about how to address him.

For the most part, the “Somebody Like You” singer is easygoing about what you call him… just be sure to avoid one specific name he really dislikes.

The topic came up during a recent interview when Urban stopped by for a chat with Much Music. The conversation turned to how a celebrity like Urban signs off on emails.

Does he prefer to be formal or casual? Well, he actually likes to keep it pretty simple.

“I usually just put K or KU, cause I like KU,” Urban says. “That’s my favorite way to be called.”

Then, the 57-year-old made a surprising confession about the one name that makes him cringe. He shared that what he absolutely hates being called is “Mr. Urban.”

“Don’t call me Mr. Urban. Agh!” he exclaimed.“It’s so official, and I feel like a school principal or something.”

It turns out he’s not the only one who can’t stand being called that. Urban revealed that his father never liked it either.

“My dad hated it too, so I get it now,” he added.

Keith Urban Accepts The ACM Triple Crown Award

On May 8, Keith Urban (or as we now know he prefers to be called “KU”) received the prestigious ACM Triple Crown Award at the 2025 ACM Awards.

To qualify for the ACM Triple Crown Award, an artist must win in three major categories: New Artist, their respective Artist category, and Entertainer of the Year.

Urban actually became eligible back in 2019 after taking home Entertainer of the Year. But it wasn’t until this year that he was officially presented the award.

He became only the 11th artist in the show’s 60-year history to earn the honor.
