American Idol Celebrates Rock Hall Of Fame Night

Season 24 of American Idol is well underway, and the most recent theme challenged the aspiring singers to step outside of their preferred genre. The fan-favorite reality show celebrated its annual Rock and Roll night on Monday, April 13th. Contestants were tasked with performing their favorite song made famous by a member of the Hall of Fame.

It proved to be a momentous night. Carrie Underwood delivered a surprise performance of “Rebel Yell” with rock icon Billy Idol to open the show. Idol’s longtime guitarist and songwriting collaborator, Steve Stevens, joined them for the song.

But that was not all. At the end of the performance, host Ryan Seacrest delivered “breaking news” that Billy Idol and Steve Stevens will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2026! See the full list of names for the Class of 2026 here.

Jordan McCullough Impresses With Queen Cover

Nashville-based worship leader Jordan McCullough got the attention of the Idol judges early. His powerful rendition of CeCe Winans’ “Goodness of God” earned him a standing ovation at his audition. He has continued to be a frontrunner in the weeks since, even earning a Platinum Ticket during the “Ohana Round.”

Traditionally a gospel singer, McCullough brought his own style to Queen’s “Somebody To Love” for rock night. Legendary rock band Queen released the anthem in 1976 on their album A Day at the Races. The original recording channeled the sound of a gospel choir, making it a perfect fit for the Idol contestant.

McCullough showed off his powerful vocal range and delivered a performance that had the judges in awe. Watch it below!
