Duck Dynasty Star Phil Robertson Remembered Following His Death

Beloved television personality and Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson died on May 25, 2025, at the age of 79. Phil’s health had been in a steep decline since he was diagnosed with a blood disorder and Alzheimer’s disease last year. The family shared news of his passing with a statement which read, in part:

“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He reminded us often of the words of Paul, ‘you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.’”

Willie Robertson Tells The Story Of Phil Robertson’s Hilarious Prayer That Didn’t Make The Cut For TV

During a visit to The Tucker Carlson Show late last year, Willie Robertson shared an anecdote about his father Phil that had both him and the host in a fit of laughter.

Willie describes the memory as his “favorite thing” that ever happened on Duck Dynasty. As they prepared to film a dinner scene during the early days of the show, a producer asked Phil to pray over the meal. They rolled the cameras, and the patriarch delivered a prayer that no one saw coming. He said:

“Father, I pray for these bunch of heathens from Los Angeles, California, with their latte coffees and their filthy language. I pray you don’t burn them all in hell for their sinfulness. Amen.”

Willie recalls everyone around the table “laughing so hard” at Phil’s delivery. Afterward, a young producer leaned in and said:

“Thank you, Mr. Phil. Now, can we do another prayer that we can actually put on television?”

Watch Willie Robertson recount Phil’s memorable prayer in the video below! The full interview can be found here.
