Emmy Russell, a 25-year-old Tennessee native, has been making waves in her journey towards stardom, with a special performance at the Grand Ole Opry on June 1st!

Emmy Russell is the granddaughter of country legend Loretta Lynn and a former contestant on Season 22 of American Idol. Throughout her Idol journey, Emmy was open about her struggles with self-expression and confidence.

In fact, for her audition, Emmy chose to push herself out of her comfort zone and not wear any makeup to show the judges and fans of the show her real, authentic self. And for another one of her performances, she chose to take the stage barefoot, showcasing her emotional depth as an artist.

Throughout the show, it was clear that Emmy was a fan favorite. Her talent guided her to the Top 5 before she was sadly eliminated from the competition. Despite not winning, the singer-songwriter emerged from the competition with newfound confidence and determination.

Shortly after her American Idol audition, the Grand Ole Opry extended an invitation for Emmy to come back once more to perform.

Even before auditioning for the show, Emmy Russell had previously performed on the Opry stage. Honoring her late grandmother, Russell performed a duet with Willie Nelson’s son, Lukas Nelson, in 2022.
