Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Sings Tanya Tucker Classic

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently unleashed his inner cowboy on social media just before his appearance on WWE Smackdown on Friday, March 8 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. In the video, he delivered a passionate message to his fans ahead of his tag team match at WrestleMania 40.

In the post, The Rock, also known as “The People’s Champ,” confidently addressed his opponents before they competed. However, the real knockout came at the end of the video as The Rock gave an unexpected rendition of Tanya Tucker’s classic, “Texas (When I Die).”

Putting his own spin on the lyrics, The Rock sang, “When I die I may not go to heaven/ I don’t know if they let outlaws in/ If they don’t just let me go to Texas, boys / ‘Cause Texas is as close as I’ve been.”

This rendition added a touch of his unique charm while paying tribute to the country icon’s original verse about cowboys.

The original, by Tanya Tucker, goes “When I die I may not go to heaven/ I don’t know if they let cowboys in/ If they don’t just let me go to Texas, boys/ ‘Cause Texas is as close as I’ve been.”

About Tanya Tucker’s Track “Texas (When I Die)”

“Texas (When I Die)” originated as a song co-written and performed by American country music artist Ed Bruce. Bruce’s rendition achieved moderate success, reaching number 52 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1977.

This country classic found new life when country music artist Tanya Tucker covered it in 1978. Released as the lead single from her album TNT, Tucker’s version soared to number 5 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, solidifying its place as a noteworthy hit.
