Jordan recently celebrated her 13th birthday. Dierks shared an affectionate post on Instagram to celebrate her special day.

The proud dad wrote:

“Happy 13th bday to my JJ @jordan.bentley7! You are now and have always been a force of nature. We love you and your fierce loving creative kind spirit.”

He included tons of photos and videos of Jordan in a slideshow accompanying his birthday message. From the looks of it, she enjoys being active, spending time outside, and performing in theatrical productions.

The last picture in the slideshow depicts a much younger Jordan…showcasing how fast she’s grown up. Boy, how time flies!

Dierks’ Daughter Was Named After His Friend Who Passed Away

Later in his post, Dierks shared the meaning behind Jordan’s name. She was named after a dear friend of his from Phoenix, who passed away in 2009…the year before Jordan was born:

Your name came from my best friend, Jordan Sterling, who passed away in 2009 from cystic fibrosis/lung transplant complications,” Dierks wrote in his post on Jordan’s birthday. “I know he is looking down and loving watching you take on life with the zest that you do.”

Dierks has often paid tribute to Jordan Sterling through the years. Following his death, he performed a new song called “Hey Jordan” at the Last Call Ball at The Cannery Ballroom in Nashville.

Some of the lyrics are:

“Hey, Jordan, do you remember all the good time we both had? / Hey, Jordan, it made me so happy, and oh so sad.”

Only a few videos exist of Dierks singing “Hey Jordan.” You can watch one of those videos below.

Dierks has also hosted fundraising events for the Jordan Sterling Foundation at his Whiskey Row gastropub. The foundation’s mission:

“…is to raise funds to support families who have a loved one with cystic fibrosis, to assist organizations that provide organ transplant services and to promote the research and treatment of cystic fibrosis.”

Those who wish to donate to the Jordan Sterling Foundation can do so online or by mail. Visit the foundation’s official website here.

Dierks Bentley ensured that Jordan Sterling will never be forgotten, especially by naming his own daughter in his honor. Read his loving 13th birthday wishes for his daughter Jordan Bentley below.

We hope that Jordan had the happiest birthday this year!
