“That’s Texas” was the fourth single released from Cody Johnson’s most recent album, Leather. Johnson is known for keeping the old country sound alive, and this album was no exception. While the singer has recorded many songs honoring his home state in some way, shape, or form, “That’s Texas” feels the most in-depth and personal.

Cody Johnson took home more awards at the 2022 CMT Music Awards than any other artist. Johnson could pull that off once again as he is one of the top nominees this year, tied with Jelly Roll, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney.

The “‘Til You Can’t” singer is nominated for three awards this year: Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year for “The Painter,” and CMT Performance of the Year for his song “Human” which he performed at the 2023 CMT Music Awards.
