Amid the lockdowns and restrictions of the COVID pandemic in 2020, country music artists got creative on ways that they could share their music with fans and spread positivity during a trying and stressful time. Since gathering in person was not an option and concerts and festivals were canceled, many found digital ways to connect with listeners.
A common trend was artists putting on acoustic or sometimes even full-band live-stream performances on social media. Cody Johnson did just this, and in addition to playing his own music, he included a killer cover of “Shameless.”
Although, most know the version of this song released by Garth Brooks, the song was originally written and recorded by Billy Joel in 1989. With Joel’s blessing, Brooks released it two years later and it went on to become his seventh No. 1 on Country radio.

This first set of shows includes Johnson’s first-ever headline performance at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on February 2nd. Johnson sold out 40 concerts in 2022, one of which was the last show he headlined in Nashville, at FirstBank Amphitheater, the city’s newest outdoor venue.
