Lainey Wilson has had a heck of a year. The “Things a Man Oughta Know” singer saw her career take off due to the release of a string of hits and a starring role in Yellowstone.

The 2023 CMT Music Awards took place in Austin, Texas, Sunday night (April 2). Lainey Wilson was the woman of the hour as she was the event’s most nominated artist and took the stage for a performance of her hit, “Heart Like a Truck.”

Wilson led all nominations, including two nods for the night’s biggest award, Video of the Year. Her “Heart Like a Truck” video is in the running for Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year. Lainey’s collab with HARDY for “Wait in the Truck” won Collaborative Video of the Year earlier in the night and is also in the running for Video of the Year. Her duet with Cole Swindell, “Never Say Never.” is up for CMT Performance of the Year.

Lainey Wilson took the stage at Austin’s Moody Center to sing her nominated hit, “Heart Like a Truck.” Wearing her signature bell bottoms in animal print and a wide-rimmed hat, Wilson captivated the audience with her performance.

Prior to the awards show, Lainey opened up about the song in an interview, saying that it is semi-autobiographical.

“It’s talking about the things that I’ve been through that have gotten me to where I am,” Wilson shared with ET. “There is something so cool about finding freedom in strength…and being okay and embracing your scars and your bumps along the way. At the end of the day, that’s what builds character.”
