CMT Music Awards: Female Video Of The Year Winner Announced

Lainey Wilson brought home the trophy for Female Video of the Year at the 2023 CMT Music Awards on Sunday night (April 2). She won for “Heart Like a Truck, accepting the award from legendary artist Shania Twain.

“My heart is ’bout to beat right out my chest, I’ll be honest with y’all,” an overwhelmed Wilson said. “This song right here is about finding freedom in strength. It’s about not being afraid of the scratches and the dents and the bumps along the way. We all got a story to tell, y’all.”

Other contenders for the award included Carly Pearce’s “What He Didn’t Do,” Carrie Underwood’s “Ghost Story,” Gabby Barrett’s “Pick Me Up,” Kelsea Ballerini’s “Heartfirst,” Maren Morris’s “Humble Quest,” and Miranda Lambert’s “Actin’ Up.”

This was the second win of the the night for Lainey Wilson who came into tonight’s awards show with the most nominations. Lainey is also up for Video of the Year, Collaborative Video of the Year, and CMT Performance of the Year.

During her acceptance speech, Lainey Wilson acknowledged the team behind her winning video. “I’m so proud of this video. It was filmed, produced, written and directed by all women.”
