Carrie Underwood Led A Sing-Along With The American Idol Audience
American Idol aired a gospel special on Sunday evening (April 20) in honor of Easter. The Top 20 contestants on the show each performed a faith-based song, and they did not disappoint. Two standout performances were John Foster’s original song about his two best friends who passed away, and Carrie Underwood’s angelic take on “How Great Thou Art.”
During a commercial break, Carrie Underwood led the studio audience in a sing-along to her hit song “Before He Cheats.”
She held a small lapel mic up to her mouth as she sang and turned around in her chair to show off the awesome audience singing along with her. Luckily, she recorded the interaction and posted it on social media for us all to see alongside the caption, “So this happened during the commercial break!”

The reactions to the video did not dissappoint.
American Idol‘s account commented, “More #Carrieokie every show pls!”
A fan wrote, “Ah yes… one of my favorite spiritual hymns. ‘Thou Shalt Surely Think Before He Cheateth’. Amen.”
Countless other fans applauded her performance from the show, many saying they were “shook.”
This Is Not The First Time “Before He Cheats” Has Been Performed This Season
Contestant Sophia Humbert auditioned for American Idol with “Before He Cheats,” but the judges felt she needed to sing with more anger. So they took her outside to destroy a red pickup truck, just like the song’s lyrics describe.
A few episodes later, a singer named JMarie also performed the song for her audition. JMarie made Underwood crack up by saying that “Before He Cheats” is considered a “Hood Anthem.”
