Carrie Underwood Is Back For Her 11th Season Of Sunday Night Football On NBC
It’s official…Carrie Underwood is returning for her 11th season of Sunday Night Football on NBC. Underwood has performed the theme since 2013, which has changed a few times through the years.
This year, Underwood will perform what NBC describes as “an updated rendition” of its classic theme, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.” The song is based on Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”
NBC states the 2023 SNF theme “features a concert performance interspersed with augmented reality highlights displayed across a halo scoreboard.” The network also noted how Underwood added “a surprise new element” to this season’s theme.
“Once again, the incredible Sunday Night Football team came up with a fresh, exciting visual concept that really gave us a chance to play,” Underwood said in a statement “I loved shooting the show open again this year at our home away from home, The Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas [where her Reflections residency is held], and can’t wait for another season of football!”
When Will Carrie Underwood’s New SNF Opening Theme Premiere?
Tripp Dixon, the creative director of the SNF opener, echoed Underwood’s excitement:
“We’re thrilled to work with Carrie to capture a new vision for this season’s show open,” Dixon said. “It sets the tone for the broadcast and pays tribute to the teams, star players and fans in a fun and dynamic way.”
