American Idol‘s Breanna Nix Proved Once Again Why She Remains A Frontrunner For Season 23
On Sunday night’s (May 4) episode of American Idol, the ten remaining contestants, including Breanna Nix, performed songs that were once performed by some of the most famous women in all of music for Ladies Night.
Miranda Lambert guest-mentored all the contestants and even performed her hit song “Kerosene.”
Each singer impressed even more than the last, so it really was a difficult week of competition! From Slater Nalley’s cover of “Whoever’s In New England” to Canaan James Hill’s masterful “Love Wins” to Jamal Roberts’ take on Carrie Underwood’s “Undo It,” all the contestants really stepped it up this week.
None more so than Breanna Nix.
The stay-at-home mom took on Adele’s 2015 song “Water Under The Bridge” for her Ladies Night performance. During the mentoring, Lambert did an exercise with her on how to sing with sass.
Wearing a stunning floor length gold dress, Nix took on the powerhouse vocalist’s hit song that had the whole audience on their feet.
Week to week, it’s been quite the journey watching Nix gain more and more confidence! It’s hard to believe the singer in the video below is the same timid singer who auditioned months ago, saying she was “just a stay-at-home mom.”
The judges praised her, with Carrie Underwood saying, “This was the right song choice for sure. I feel like everybody is trying different things tonight. A perfect moment for you.”
Luke Bryan added, “It was like an Adele vibes moment. Perfectly well done.”
Lionel Richie rounded out the judges comments by saying, “You turned it into your song. You know how to get to a note and choke it to death!”
Did Breanna Make It Past Elimination?
After all ten contestants performed their Ladies Night tributes, host Ryan Seacrest had to reveal who would be advancing to the Top 8.
Breanna Nix was the first to be announced as safe! She was followed by Mattie Pruitt, Jamar Roberts, John Foster, Josh King, Gabby Simone, Slater Nally, and Thunderstorm Artis.
This means that Kolbi Jordan and Canaan James Hill were eliminated, leaving no more Platinum Ticket recipients in the competition.
On Monday night (May 5), the Top 8 will be performing songs chosen for them by the judges.
