“Hard Fought Hallelujah” Continues To Have An Impact
Christian singer-songwriter Brandon Lake released his powerful anthem “Hard Fought Hallelujah” in November 2024. The song had already begun to catch fire on social media when he enlisted the help of his friend and co-writer Jelly Roll to put out a duet version.
The reimagined version was released on February 7th, 2025. Since then, Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll have performed the faith-based song at festivals, on national television, and during major awards shows.
Most recently, “Hard Fought Hallelujah” took home the K-Love Award for Song of the Year on Sunday, May 25th. While Brandon graciously accepted the award, a surprise message from Jelly Roll appeared on screen. He said:
“Man, what a beautiful story man, from a jail cell to a K-Love Award, that is something only God can do himself. Brandon, thank you for letting me be a part of this record. Brandon Lake Surprised Jelly Roll At Recent Stadium Show
It did not take long for Brandon Lake to return the favor and pull off a surprise of his own. Jelly Roll is currently on tour with Post Malone for the Big A** Stadium Tour. On Wednesday, June 4th, the tour took over Citi Field in New York City.
While Jelly Roll performed “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” his duet partner, Brandon Lake, ran out on stage and surprised him mid-song. The pair embraced and then finished off the song together.
Brandon shared a video online afterwards and wrote:
“I LOVE YOU @jellyroll615!!! I LOVE YOU NYC!!!”
