Brandon Lake and Lainey Wilson kicked off the final day of CMA Fest with their faith-filled duet.
Sunday morning, June 7th, Brandon Lake hosted “Cowboy Church” at CMA Fest – the nation’s largest country music festival. Lainey Wilson, CeCe Winans, and Dan + Shay joined in on the outdoor worship show, which was held along the banks of the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee.
The show was free and open to the public. Fans started lining up as early as 6 am, and by 9 am, the concert area had reached capacity. As a result, the performances were live-streamed to nearby stages to accommodate additional viewers.
Lake expressed his disbelief and gratitude for the massive turnout, writing:
“I am SPEECHLESS!! Words don’t even do justice to what happened this morning. God is so good! Cowboy Church LETS GO!!! Will remember this forever.”
Lainey Wilson & Brandon Lake Release “The Jesus I Know Now”
On Good Friday, April 3rd, Brandon Lake and Lainey Wilson released their poignant duet “The Jesus I Know Now.” The pair co-wrote the song with Nashville-based songwriters Emily Weisband and Luke Laird. It reflects on “people’s experience getting taught a different Jesus than the one we know now.”
The chorus declares:
“The Jesus I know now ain’t shaking a fist, ain’t raising a brow. The Jesus I know know ain’t running away from a party crowd. Found a friend who hangs with the misfits, listens, forgives, then forgives again. Can’t believe I was missing out on the Jesus I know now.”
The song expanded Lake’s already impressive list of country collaborations, including duets with Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, and Bailey Zimmerman.

Lainey Wilson was a late addition to the CMA Fest lineup and added an extra level of star power to the event. Attendees were thrilled when she took the stage with Lake on Sunday morning. The two vocalists delivered the powerful song as tens of thousands of fans watched and sang along.
