Shelton Credits Gwen Stefani For His Renewed Faith

It’s pretty common for country singers to write songs about their faith. Heck, some even release full albums about it. Shelton doesn’t have a lot of religious songs, but one that comes to mind is 2016’s “Savior’s Shadow,” which peaked at #14 on the Hot Christian Songs chart.

While Shelton is known for his sense of humor and fun-loving attitude, his love for God is prevalent.

During the interniew, Bannen asked him, “Do you have a different or changing relationship with your faith now being in your mid- 40s?”

Without hesitation, he said, “Yeah, I would say that. And that comes from Gwen’s influence. I’ve learned so much from her. She’s really the person that’s has helped me get in touch with my faith, and get serious about it, and not just something you say at an award show.”

He continued, “She reminds me to think about it all day long, when you’re around her, everything she sees, she sees God in it. It’s really special to be around her because her faith is alive and it’s so incredible to be around her, and she’s so happy about it. She loves to share it to anyone who will listen. It’s inspiring to be around her.”

Bannen replied that she didn’t know Stefani was so religious but had met the “I’m Just A Girl” singer in passing, saying, “[Gwen is] so radiant, and it reminds me of other women that I know, I’m thinking of Kimberly Schlapman and I’m thinking of Dolly Parton, they’re almost lit from within.”

Shelton agreed about Schlapman, who always has a smile on her face and is just a positive presence. The “Texas” singer also agreed that Dolly is an incredible person.

“Gwen has that, too; she just has that,” Shelton said.

Longtime fans will know that Stefani is a devout Catholic, but some people are surprised by the fact that she is very religious.
