American Pickers Star Mike Wolfe Is Closing Down One Of Their Stores
A few weeks ago, Mike Wolfe announced he would take a hiatus from his show American Pickers for the first time in 15 years. Now, he revealed he is stepping back even more from his business.
On American Pickers, he travels the country to pick people’s properties and find hidden gems. He sells these gems online or at his Antique Archaeology stores in LeClaire, Iowa, and Nashville, Tennessee.
Fans were able to watch the creation of the Music City location beginning in Season Five.
Why Is Mike Wolfe Closing The Store?
In a post on Facebook, Wolfe announced, “Well, Nashville… it’s time. After nearly 15 amazing years, we’ve made the tough decision to close the doors of our Antique Archaeology store here in Music City. This place has meant the world to me — not just the brick and mortar, but the people. The community. The visitors from all over the world who came through those doors, shared their stories, and reminded me every day why I started this journey in the first place.”
He explained that he has loved every minute of his time in Nashville, but “sometimes, even when something is good, you have to pause and ask yourself where your time is going — and where your heart is calling you next.”
And his heart is calling him to spend more time with his family. Thanks to the closure of this storefront and the show’s hiatus, he will be able to be home more with his 13-year-old daughter, Charlie, and work on projects closer to home, as well as act in his first project.
“I’ve learned over the years that it’s easy to spread yourself too thin, and balance is something we all chase in one way or another,” he wrote.
Wolfe will still be picking and selling at the Iowa location and online.
The Nashville location of Antique Archaeology will close for good on April 27. For fans in the area, Wolfe will be there on April 26 from 11-4.
He ended his post by saying, “This isn’t goodbye — it’s just a new rhythm. I’ll forever be grateful for every moment in that Nashville space, and for all of you who made it more than just a shop. You made it home.”
The Store’s Closure Comes 7 Months After Co-Star Frank Fritz’s Death
Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe were childhood friends who started a picking business together. Their finds, and the people they met along they way, were so compelling that History Channel gave them their own show, American Pickers, in 2010.
Fritz left the show in 2021 due to health issues, which led to a falling out with Wolfe and their other co-star, Danielle Colby. In 2022, Fritz suffered a debilitating stroke that left him immobilized. He passed away on September 30, 2024 from the effects of the stroke.
The two friends were able to reconcile before Fritz’s death. Following his death, Wolfe paid tribute to his longtime friend on social media.
“What you’ve seen on TV has always been what I have seen, a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny,” he wrote. “The same off camera as he was on, Frank had a way of reaching the hearts of so many by just being himself.”
“We’ve been on countless trips and shared so many miles and I feel blessed that I was there by his side when he took one last journey home,” he continued. “I love you buddy and will miss you so much I know your in a better place.”
